Health Care Quality and Cost Council launches Website application to provide healthcare quality and cost information to consumers

12/10/2008 - For the first time today, cost and quality data on Massachusetts hospitals will be publicly available and readily accessible. The Massachusetts Health Care Quality and Cost Council (HCQCC) was established by the Health Reform Law in 2006 to establish statewide goals to improve quality, contain costs, and reduce racial and ethnic disparities in health care. Today at noon at an official gathering of media and other key stakeholders at the State House, the Council will launch an interactive, consumer-friendly website per the mandate.

The HCQCC site, developed by Medullan, will allow consumers to compare health care procedures at different hospitals and outpatient facilities. The goal for the website is intended to help consumers select high quality, lower cost care, and to encourage health care providers to improve quality and contain costs.

We encourage you to visit the site at http://www.mass.gov/myhealthcareoptions.
